The
Current Library holds
quite a selection of Books, Pamphlets and
Journals. Although we have some old
books, such as Jabez Hogg, The Microscope
dated 1882, many others have been lost over
time: This ‘Hogg’ was donated as a replacement
in the 1940’s, although we do not now have any
copies of his other books. As with our
original copy of Jabez Hogg, many of our other
books were destroyed during WWII bombing, the
War Damage Fund helped us to re-build the
library up again, but that's a story for for
next time.
Also in the collection are Catalogues from
various suppliers of equipment; the oldest are
1920-1930’s Watson Microscope and Accessories.
We would like to hold copies of older
Catalogues and Instruction Manuals, as Members
love, collect, restore and rescue older
machines and accessories.
The Society would have celebrated its 140th
Anniversary this year, but we’ve had no
meetings in person but only by Zoom. The
Library is locked away ‘for the duration’ but
we would still like Donations, and any
suggestions of Brand new books ... the Society
is always happy to consider buying books
thought to be suitable for use of the members.
